Genre: Fantasy Horror
Age appropriate for 16+ (intense violence, gore, and suggestive themes)
Ember's mother died in a mysterious fire or so she thought. When Ember gets wind of her mother's survival ten years later, she treks on an expedition to find her. And when she does, her mother expresses her gratitude by murdering her own daughter.
When Ember dies, her soul is weighed. She is equal parts good and equal parts evil. She is an anomaly that belongs in neither Heaven nor Hell. Like all anomalies, there is a place for them—away from the confines of Hell and away from the joys of Heaven. That is a place where Omens dwell.
Omens are the collectors of evil souls and gain their power by fusing with animal deities. Ember is now one of them.
However, there's more to this supernatural world than Ember can ever imagine, and she is desperate to escape her new "life." She yearns to solve the mystery of why her mother murdered her. But little does she know, the reason is far worse than she fears.

She’s brutally honest like that. Lastly, Amy likes talking about herself. If you need her for any reason, yell “Shazam” loudly out your window. It works especially well at 4 A.M. in the morning.

To sum it all up, Spider a brilliant grump. He spends most of his time in his lab. He doesn't find conversation with other people stimulating enough and can be quite harsh with the way he speaks, especially to underlings. The only person/creature he's nice to is Crow. They have an interesting partnership—she's like his legs and doesn't mind running errands for him. She usually brings back interesting souvenirs such a tooth or a piece of bone. He likes receiving these gifts more than he shows.
Crow is very cunning and temperamental. When she gets riled up, the best course of action is to back away slowly because she tends to fight with uncontrollable fury. She's a softie when it comes to only one person, her comrade Spider. She's like a cactus—prickly on the outside but mushy on the inside. She secretly likes trashy romance novels and has a whole library full of them. But keep it hush hush because she has a reputation to keep.
Nok is Ember’s mother and Dexter’s stepmother. Her family is her main priority, and heaven help the person that decides to mess with family. She is caring yet stern and makes one great mom. Strangely, she knows more about the supernatural than she lets on...
Hannah has a larger than life personality and quite a talker. Give her permission to tell you a story and before you know it, it's already tomorrow. She's big on her vices—men and booze. She's a retired army veterinarian—a vet vet if you will. She doesn't know the meaning of boundaries and is quite strong for a lady her age. She's also Ember's mentor and enjoys teaching someone in the millennial generation because it allows her to hit on men in their 20's when they flock around Ember. Hannah has no shame.
Cerberus is very serious and observant. At first glance, he looks like a brute, but he's very calculating. He tends to walk around with a stern and thoughtful expression, and it's like his eyes can see right into your soul. He's highly respected among other Omens and is known for his strategic battle commands. He doesn't remember much of his human life or what he enjoyed, but as an Omen, he's drawn to any activity that includes the earth—like tending a garden or swimming in the great blue.
Ember is a tomboy, and she can be a little goofy at times. But overall, she's very focused and determined. In her spare time, she would build and customize her own cafe racers. If she isn't in the garage, she's out working as an animal trainer to make a living. Little does she know, her knack with animals will save her in future dangerous encounters with Omens.
Dexter is the older half sister of Ember. Dexter is both brilliant and eccentric. She spends most of her time either in her lab at Rising Innovations or working on personal projects in her kitchen. She consumes food only in bar or slush form. She also likes to feed pigeons on her spare time. She’s quite a character. Don’t let her supermodel good looks fool you.
Nikolaj is very social and suave. He's witty and also the go-to person for cheesy retorts. He's a big flirt and making people uncomfortable is his favorite pastime. He marches to the beat of his own drum and has long ago perfected the lazy grin. As charming as he may seem, there's something sinister lurking beneath. But overall, he's fighting to become a better person than he truly is. Is he trying hard enough? You be the judge.
